Summer Inspiration

So I've been rocking my maxi dresses all summer long, and I'm getting a little tired of the Yeshiva girl look that I naturally adopt as a member of the Chosen peeps. How do I spice it up?

Recently, I was checking out the Sartorialist, whose blog I avoid for about a month or two and then devour in an afternoon of street-creeping bliss.

Here's what he's got to say (show?) about giving the rather conservative maxi skirt/dress a wild and fun update:

I am obsessed with the regal draped look of the first picture, and that cropped top paired with a tank top underneath is both sexy and coy. Meanwhile, the bold graphic print and neon details of the last look are so on trend they may as well have been ripped out of this month's fashion mags.

What's your favorite way to update the season's biggest trends to stay on top of the fashion flock?

This is not news, but....

Looky what I found all by myself!

Spotting plagiarism in the wild is kind of exciting/creeptastic. Not cool, Forever 21! I know, I know... some of you may be saying that Urban knocks off small designers and therefore it serves them right, but two wrongs don't make a right. And sooo... time to hiss and boo appropriately:

A Bevy of Talent

So, my teenhood idol, Adam Wallacavage, was kind enough to allow me to have a photoshoot in his incredible home last Wednesday.

The house is incredible. His own chandeliers hang in every room, and the 3-story building is oozing with kitsch, from quirky to macabre. Even after over 8 hours, I was still discovering new things to look at!

But enough about this drool-worthy homestead. I styled Anna Kaarina Lake's graduate collection and Cassandra Kane's senior collection. The two are galaxies apart from each other in design and concept, and I had a lot of fun changing the model from urban amazon to old-school beauty throughout the day.

Special thanks to Andre Rucker (photo), Jacqueline Ryan (MUA), and Genevieve Burke (of Reinhard Model and Talent). Check some of the images out below!
